![]() Many individuals, regardless of nationality, have a great interest in the German WWII tanks (and other vehicles/weapons). Why? One would think that, in general, people would be more inclined to be interested in the machines used by their own respective countries. ![]() When you think of World War II, you will invariably come up with an image of one of these tanks. I believe I have managed to triangulate a few reasons why. One could make the case for the entire German Second World War military force (and by extension the Balkankreuz here) being the focus of a great many’s interest in the period. Countless versions (many with incredible details and features) of King Tigers exist, especially. Indeed, Academy has recently released a new Panther ausf. Learning about WWII will almost certainly lead you to these vaunted weapons of war. Should you manufacture model kits, you will almost without fail have a Tiger, a Panther, or a Panzer IV (or all three) in your selection. You only need to look at the various model kits available from each manufacturer to get an idea of just how popular. During my time as a military history hobbyist (with a particular flavour for tanks that has since expanded to other conflicts in the 20th century and onwards), I have often noticed the … popularity of German Second World-War era tanks. ![]()
